Eye of the Hurricane
©2016, Matt Fitzgibbons (ASCAP)

Smell the dust, feel the sun,
Fingers twitch just above the gun.
Hear the wind cross the plain
there is no fear that I must contain.

And I’m in the eye of the hurricane.

I see the sweat across his brow
I’m poised to draw in eternal now.
The fastest one is the one who’s slain
And I still stand: Got the better aim.

And I’m in the eye of the hurricane.

And I want the world to know my pain.
And I want the wind to say my name.

Cause I’m in the eye of the hurricane.

I was passing through on my way back home
to get a drink, but be left alone.
They tried to take my guns, some mayor’s new campaign,
I told them I would leave, they pushed me just the same.

And I’m in the eye of the hurricane.

And I want the world to know my pain.
And I want the wind to say my name.

Cause I’m in the eye of the hurricane.

For the Heores 2.0

Whether you take me for the fool I know that I can be,
whether you see me eye to eye or if we disagree,
I’ll be your friend, until the end. I’ll see you through.

Whether you heal the casualties, or you kill to keep us free,
whether it’s goods that you prepare, or you help bring them there,
For all you’ve done, for everyone. I won’t forget.

For the heroes! For you all!
You keep the oath you took so we won’t fall.

Whether you feel that you’re alone, or you fear your life will end,
know you’ve got three hundred million friends.
For everything you’ve done I sing. You’re in our prayers.

For the heroes! For you all!
You keep the oath you took so we won’t fall.

Promise on a Dream
©2016, Matt Fitzgibbons (ASCAP)

We built a promise on a dream,
like nothing else the world has seen.
We built a promise on a dream.
We built a promise we thirteen.

We crossed the land bridge across the ocean
a long, long time ago.
We tracked the herds here, we followed fortune
on the glacial ice and snow.

We came as sailors searching for adventure.
We came in from the East.
We crossed the ocean, we followed fortune
and our numbers they increased.

Before those people stepped onto the shore, 2/3rds of the first ones had died.
Cause along with the trade goods, they brought new disease
The worst way that cultures collide.

We built a promise on a dream,
like nothing else the world has seen.
We built a promise on a dream.
We built a promise we thirteen.

We loved the freedom that we created
but the King saw us as slaves
We took our rights back and beat his soldiers
and our flag still proudly waves.

And ever since we’ve been the one place that’s calls where people are desperate to be
We still follow fortune to build a new world
Cause this is the land of the free!

We built a promise on a dream,
like nothing else the world has seen.
We built a promise on a dream.
We built a promise we thirteen.

We built a promise on a dream,
like nothing else the world has seen.
But we built a promise on a dream,
like nothing else the world has seen.
We built a promise on a dream,
We built a promise on a dream!

Give Me Liberty
©2016, Matt Fitzgibbons (ASCAP)

In an age of reason, in the time of light,
We committed treason to claim our natural rights.
The King sent seasoned soldiers, sent them to attack.
It took 8 long years to send the killers back.

And in the age of chaos, with all our money spent,
The king is now elected, by 51 percent.
Our rights are only memories subject to decree
and no one but the powerful are free.

When I have nothing left, with my final breath,
Give me liberty or give me death!

Ages come in cycles as people sleep and wake.
We only rise to action when theres nothing left to take.
Is our Republic different? Will we end the tyranny?
Or will our children live in slavery?

When I have nothing left, with my final breath,
Give me liberty or give me death!

Give me liberty!
Give me liberty!
Give me liberty!

You Don’t Ask Why
©2016, Matt Fitzgibbons (ASCAP)

You work all these hours a week so you can buy more stuff.
And you fill your house with it, but it’s never enough.
When the TV’s off, you can feel your chains from your favorite chair.
The only trouble is… you’re never there.

You lease out your healthy years, they take half your pay.
They say it’s for equality, and you must obey.
They tell their pawns that we need more laws for the rights of man.
The only trouble is… you know their plan.

When you look at the rest of the world, you think you’ve got it good.
Remember what our founders did. You know, what we should.
We’ve got the tools that were paid in blood we just don’t apply.
The only trouble is… we don’t ask why.
